Trivium vocalist Matt Heafy first revealed his black metal project with Ihsahn, titled Mrityu, back in 2012. Nothing substantial about the project surfaced until 2019, when Ihsahn said he and Heafy were trading files back and forth to get things going. Now Ihsahn has revealed something much more substantial – Mrityu is in the studio.
Ihsahn said in an Instagram post that he and Heafy are "making great progress every session" despite the quarantine. No teases of the project are yet available, but given who's involved, it's safe to assume it'll be great.
"It’s #mrityumonday?and me and @matthewkheafy have been tracking some killer vocals in @cubase.pro through #vstconnectpro by @steinbergmedia! The current situation prevents us from traveling, but with this technology it is almost like we’re in the same studio? Matt is absolutely killing it and we’re making great progress every session!! #mrityu #newmusic"
