You might recall Witherfall's name being in the news recently as vocalist Joseph Michael is currently fronting Sanctuary on their farewell tour. Michael is standing in for vocalist Warrel Dane, who passed on in 2017, and may record a new album with the band. Not that Michael wants any downtime when he's potentially done with the Sanctuary gig, as Witherfall has announced they're hitting the studio May 15 to follow up their 2017 debut album Nocturnes and Requiems.
The new album will be titled A Prelude To Sorrow and will be recorded by JJ Crews at Boogie Tracks studios in Panama City.
"Witherfall have finished writing and are deep into pre-production of our second LP. On 15 May, Witherfall will head into the studio to self-produce our follow-up to Nocturnes And Requiems. Tracking and engineering wizardry will be handled by JJ Crews at Boogie Tracks studios in Panama City. The compositions are both melodically violent and beautifully aggressive with a much darker tone than Nocturnes. More news to follow…"
Outside Michael, who used to be in White Wizzard, the band also features current Iced Earth and ex-White Wizzard guitarist Jake Dreyer and ex-Into Eternity drummer Steve Bolognese. This will also be the band's first album with guitarist Fili Bibiano, who joined in 2017.
