You read that right, folks. The headline says it all.
Ahh Danzig, almost as fun to write about as Dave Mustaine. Seeing as though I am theWalter Cronkite of metal (or maybe the Barbara Walters), I met Danzig once and interviewed him. He was cool, he said I looked like the son of the Big Show. Meeting Danzig really humanized him to me, because I always heard crazy stories about how he had bricks outside of his house and wouldn't remove them, his affinity for french onion soup, his stand-offishness, or he enjoyed picking up kitty litter.
Well, a recent interview with LA Weekly helped to dehumanize him a bit. He was asked about being approached to play Wolverine in the X-Men movies, something I am just hearing about now, and his response? Classic Danzig!
"Early in the film's pre-production, you were in talks to play Wolverine in X-Men. How would you have played Logan/Wolverine differently than Hugh Jackman?
It wouldn't have been as gay. Actually, he wasn't the first choice. They hired Dougray Scott. He had a falling out with the director, and then they hired Hugh Jackman. I'm glad I didn't do it. It was terrible.
Wait, what? While there have certainly been rumors questioning actor Hugh Jackman's sexuality (the guy loves Broadway), when seeing him play Wolverine, never once did I think "he's playing it too gay." Also, what does that even mean? I don't recall a scene where he was a little close too Cyclops. Was this in an extended version? Dear God, is Danzig a homophobe?
