A PERFECT CIRCLE's BILLY HOWERDEL Shares "Free And Weightless" From New Album What Normal Was

It's the second single from What Normal Was out June 10.

The second single from Billy Howerdel's forthcoming solo album plus a visualizer video for the track "Free And Weightless" were released today. Howerdel will release What Normal Was on June 10.

"'Free and Weightless" stood on its own as an instrumental demo for a year before I cracked the code on the vocals," explains Howerdel. "It was built out of a rolling collage of loops, which isn't something I would normally do. Thematically, everything on this record is pointed at personal relationships. The songs are a combination of a few conversations happening in a split-screen point-of-view. No one story is ever completely singular. It's like patchwork."

What Normal Was is already creating a lot of buzz, with accolades coming from seemingly everywhere; Consequence and Guitar World have much praise for Howerdel, the latter publication perfectly observing him as "treading a line between Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails." While talking about "Free and Weightless," Daniel P. Carter, host of BBC Radio 1's Rock Show said, "If you're a huge fan of A Perfect Circle, you're gonna love it hands down. Has shades of A Perfect Circle in there but also a lot of his early influences really coming through like The Cure, Depeche Mode, Echo & the Bunnymen. Solid!" Similarly, we at Metal Injection made the same observation of Howerdel's first single from What Normal Was, "Poison Flowers," which was released last month
