Straight from the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, As Oceans is a band you should not sleep on.
The North Carolina metal quartet have been riding a tidal wave ever since the release of their absolutely face-melting EP, Willows, last year. The band won a regional Battle for Knotfest competition just a few months later to secure a spot on 2015's Knotfest.
Bassist Kit Brown, who used to write for this very site, says "Passage" will be the band's first single on their upcoming debut album. Here's what he had to say about the writing process:
As far as the music goes, Pat and I have been slaving away at writing new songs for almost a year now and nitpicking the hell out of everything. But this was the first time that the four of us just sat in a room and banged out a song in a little under 24 hours. It feels extremely natural to us, and we did almost no second guessing as far as arrangement goes. It was also cool to see how we could incorporate multiple styles of metal, rock, and ambiance without ever feeling weird or forced.
As Oceans is currently selling the track on Bandcamp for just a buck, and you can find the rest of the band's discography for sell as well. Be sure to like and follow the band on their Facebook page here.
