Philly-based noise/blackened sludge experimentalists Crowhurst have released a nightmarish new video for their track "Ghost Tropic," off the band's upcoming album III. Produced by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou, the album is an absolute banger and an early contender for album of the year.
Part of that is due to the album's collaborators; Primitive Man's Ethan Lee McCarthy, Lycia's Tara Vanflower and Sol Invictus/Crisis' Tony Wakeford; and the fact that Crowhurst is no fucking joke.
The quintet has released 77 albums (according to Metal Archives) since Jay Gambit started the band as a solo venture in 2011.
In regards to the song/video:
"Ghost Tropic is a song about fighting as hard as you can and still losing completely and absolutely over and over again until the loss engulfs you," Gambit tells Decibel Magazine. "Be it mental illness, lost love, addiction or otherwise – there is a place where hell is made and evolves into any environment you step in. No matter how much you try and plead and turn it off, it follows you."
Crowhurst is slated to multiple sets (including a collaborative performance with Gnaw Their Tongues) at Roadburn 2019 in Tilburg, the Netherlands, just a few days before III is released April 15 via Prophecy Produtions.
