Foo Fighters dedicated a performance of their hit "My Hero" to the late and great Steve Albini during their May 9 show in Charlotte, NC. As tributes pour in for Albini and his legacy, Dave Grohl's dedication feels especially apt considering Albini's role in Nirvana's In Utero (which the band has since memorialized).
Albini died at 61 years old of a heart attack earlier this week. Albini's studio Electrical Audio has since paid tribute to the man himself on social media, as they issued the following statement: "Last night, our captain, Steve Albini, died unexpectedly at the ripe young age of 61. We are struggling to comprehend and process this loss. Undoubtedly, there are many memories, tears, and stories to tell. Please tell them, and help keep his spirit alive.
"We thank you for all the lovely sentiments we’ve been receiving. Truly. Please, give your friend a hug today."
