FOO FIGHTERS Withdraw From Soundside Music Festival

Maybe just leave it at that.

In a story that sits on the precarious border between “news” and “none of our business,” the Foo Fighters have withdrawn from the upcoming Soundside Music Festival this weekend, with a lot of people attributing it to fallout from Dave Grohl’s recent admission that he fathered a child outside of his marriage.

Foo Fighters announced their withdrawal from the festival on Instagram earlier today with a short message reading:
FOO FIGHTERS WILL NO LONGER BE APPEARING AT THIS WEEEND’S SOUNDSIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL. PLEASE CHECK THE FESTIVAL WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION.”

Comments on the message are turned off, and I’m tempted to end the story there because I kind of feel that’s all that we should need to know about this. However, this is my first day being given the keys, so to speak, at Metal Injection for the day and I don’t want to be the site that ignores the fact that the chatter around this is largely focused on everything else going on with Grohl’s personal life. So let’s talk about Dave Grohl’s personal life, I guess.

For those who don’t have the Internet or television or radios or any media of any sort whatsoever, first, congratulations on somehow reading this, and secondly, let’s get you caught up on the Dave Grohl scandal that started on September 10 when Grohl posted on his Instagram account the shocking admission. “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage," the post reads. "I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration towards all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

The PRP reports that The Foo Fighters have been off the road since before the announcement, so them cancelling their appearance at Soundside is hardly surprising. So if it’s just Grohl taking some time to straighten out a crisis in his life, then by all means, take the time. If it’s because people are mad at him, I feel like maybe people should let him and his family handle this as a family.
