This song is some serious crunchy blackened doom! King Bastard is so underground right now, they aren't even in the metal archives. Their debut track "Psychosis" will definitely change that as these guys are raw, vile and impossible to ignore, in a good way.
The band comments: “Despite being primarily instrumental, the song is about an astronaut being sent from earth to colonize another planet and ultimately meeting his demise. Our album is a concept album following the journey of a group of cosmic colonists. The lyrics are in reference to Vladimir Komarov whose last words can be heard at the end of the track.”
The video itself, directed, animated by and starring Brendan McGowan, who has worked with Ghost, Imperial Triumphant and Denzel Curry in varying capacities, perfectly illustrates the inhospitable nature of the vacuum of space and encapsulates the lack of hope in its exploration.
He comments of the production: "A quarantine-era experiment in extreme DIY filmmaking and an obvious allusion thematically to the perpetual loneliness we're all feeling at the moment, with a little Dune and Lovecraft thrown in."
Personally, I can't wait to see these guys claw their way out of the underground and create more!
