Epica is here to bring you all the massively orchestral metal you could want today with their new single "Cross The Divide". Perhaps a bit too much – the orchestral bits in this song really overtake the band behind it at points, huh? The single comes from Epica's upcoming record Aspiral, due out April 11.
Aspiral's name was taken from the eponymous bronze sculpture made by Polish sculptor and painter Stanisław Szukalski back in 1965. So not only do you get a solid track to check out today, but you get a bit of an art history lesson alongside it! Everyone wins!
Aspiral was recorded at Sandlane Studios, mixed and produced by Joost van den Broek, and features cover artwork by Hedi Xandt (Rammstein, Ghost, Parkway Drive). Special editions of the album also include the BluRay and audio recordings of Epica's full monumental Symphonic Synergy performance in Amsterdam that the band recorded in 2024, with an orchestra and choir. Aspiral runs as follows:
- "Cross the Divide"
- "Arcana"
- "Darkness Dies in Light — A New Age Dawns Part VII"
- "Obsidian Heart"
- "Fight to Survive – The Overview Effect"
- "Metanoia – A New Age Dawns Part VIII"
- "T.I.M.E."
- Apparition"
- "Eye of the Storm"
- "The Grand Saga of Existence — A New Age Dawns Part IX"
- "Aspiral"
