Rising Massachusetts grindcore quartet Escuela Grind is shaping up to have quite the year in 2020.
Politi-charged and abrasive as fuck, the self-described "grind violence" punks–which feature Kill the Client guitarist Jesse Fuentes on drums–have been confirmed for two festivals on opposite sides of the globe (Northeast Terror Fest and Obscene Extreme) with accompanying North American and European tours.
Frontwoman Katerina Economou brings a level of rage that would be well-respected among the Converge and The Dillinger Escape Plan camps, so it's pretty exciting that these lovely people are getting to spread their filth across the world.
In a build-up for release of band' s debut LP Indoctrination, the grinders released a wacky new music video for the debut's first three songs; "Inspirational Significance," "Hyper-Victim" and "Private Vice, Public Benefit"; directed by Seby X Martinez of legendary horror studio Troma Entertainment (The Toxic Avenger, Class of Nuke 'Em High).
“We spent an afternoon shooting with our friend Seby X Martinez, who we met while working on some great projects with Troma,” Ecnonomou tells Decibel. “The idea for the video originally came from watching a video of QVC Bloopers and it snowballed from there into this absurdist, Millennial, infomercial fever dream. The video loosely fits into the theme of our full-length, Indoctrination, but definitely more of a tongue-in-cheek approach visually.”
Escuela Grind will release Indoctrination on March 20 via Armageddon Label, To Live A Lie and Regurgitated Semen Records. You can pre-order the album here, and follow the band on Facebook here.
