Evanescence's Amy Lee and Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart recently teamed up for a cover of the Everly Brothers classic, "Love Hurts."
"My collaboration with Amy happened by chance, but turned into a magical adventure," said Stewart. "She's a creative force and we work so well together. We quickly realized our version sounded nothing like the original but once we started, we couldn't stop!"
Lee added that "A few weeks back Dave called and asked if I wanted to collaborate on the iconic Every Brothers song 'Love Hurts.' We clicked like magic and obsessed over it until it became this crazy new thing. I'm beyond excited about our new friendship and our new track."
Stewart's career is storied and celebrated. He founded the Eurythmics in 1980 alongside legendary vocalist Annie Lennox, and released their debut album the following year. They would go on to have multiple smash hits throughout the 80s, including "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)," "Love Is A Stranger,"and "Here Comes the Rain Again." The duo were synonymous with the style and imagery associated with the early days of MTV. Eurythmics were inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this past April.
Stewart would also go on to become a much-sought after producer and songwriter, having produced records for Jon Bon Jovi and Mick Jagger, and co-writing several hits for ska-pop giants No Doubt. Most memorable, perhaps still, is Stewart's collaboration with Tom Petty for the late singer songwriter's classic song "Don't Come Around Here No More" which Stewart produced and co-wrote with Petty.
Lee and Evanescence will be hitting the road this summer with Korn, and those dates can be found below. "I fell hard into Korn's music in high school," said Lee recently. "It was an inspiration during the formation of my own band. The chances we've had to play together over the years are special, a part of our history. They remain one of the best live bands I've ever seen. It's an honor and a thrill to go out with our friends again, our first full tour together since '07. We're all really looking forward to this."
