Ihsahn featured Opeth vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt on his 2008 album angL and now he's recruited another member of the band ten years later. Ihsahn's new song "Arcana Imperii" features Opeth guitarist Fredrik Åkesson, and the reason I bring up angL in tandem with the new song is that this track also sounds like Ihsahn's first two albums. Sure, there's a lot more synth than there used to be, but "Arcana Imperii" feels like a throwback to 2008 with its low distortion and big choruses interspersed between twisting black metal verses.
So yeah, the new Ihsahn track is sick and the new album Àmr is out May 4.
