Brooklyn metal masters IKILLYA are gearing up to release their new album, War for an Idea, on June 2. The album deals with modern day society, as frontman Jason Lekberg explained to MetalSucks, when discussing the lead single, "Your God."
“I began writing this song the day of the Bataclan shooting in Paris. That event helped me finally put into words my disgust with people who use their interpretation of ‘god’ to justify hurting, killing or infringing on the rights of others. It’s the first IKILLYA song ever to use an expletive, but I don’t know that there is any more appropriate way to express how we feel.”
Pre-order War for an Idea here. IKILLYA and the Iraqi band Acrassicauda are playing a benefit gig for those affected by President Trump’s travel ban at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory this Sunday, February 26. Alex Skolnick from Testament and other guest performers will be jumping on stage, so it'll be a hang. Get tickets and additional info here.
