Imperial Triumphant may very well be releasing one of the most enticing and insane black metal records of 2018. The band's new song "Swarming Opulence" is a genuinely jazzy, completely off-the-wall trip through the void, while the music video for the song is so well produced that it could pass for a standalone short film. Here's how vocalist and guitarist Zachary Ilya Ezrin described the video and song to Revolver.
"The concept behind the song 'Swarming Opulence' is that gold is the god of New York City. Commerce is the foundation of our culture. The one idol that everyone worships here is money; the drive that success is measured in power."
As for the album Vile Luxury itself, the band says it's all about their hometown of New York City.
Our city is like the corpse of a giant. What was once so bright, grand and spectacular, is now filled with greedy maggots writhing towards their share of 'success'. We don't support it nor are we against. We only play the sounds of the New York City as we hear them."
Imperial Triumphant's new album Vile Luxury is out July 13.
