Originally based out of India and now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, Soara is a two-man project consisting of Karthik Ramasubraminan (vocals) and Akhilesh Rao (guitar). Recently, the act unveiled a couple tracks featuring drummer Hannes Grossmann known for his work with Obscura, Necrophagist, Blotted Science, Alkaloid, Hate Eternal, Howling Sycamore, and more.
Meshing the classical music styles of their home country with progressive and death metal, their two-track EP titled Dharm presents a unique folk fusion. Alongside their compellingly original music, Soara also provides some serious and topical lyrical themes. The recent single, "Tezaab (Acid)," shines a light on acid attack victims, an unfortunate and cruel happening within Asian and African countries. In the latter half of the video, you can watch an interview with acid attack survivor Anu Mukherjee and if you feel so inclined, you may donate to the chosen charity of Acid Survivor Saahas Foundation (ASSF).
