You may not know this, but renown director John Carpenter (Halloween, They Live) is also an accomplished composer. Along with his son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, Carpenter recently provided the score for the most recent Halloween films (Halloween and Halloween Kills), and now the trio has provided the music to the upcoming Firestarter remake, based on the Stephen King novel that was also made into film in 1984 starring Drew Barrymore.
Balanced by its creepy ambiance and doom-laden guitars, the track, entitled “I’ll Find You” (listen above), is a synth-based ode to horror scores of the 80s, a sound similar to what was immortalized so well in Netflix’s Stranger Things. The track has a pulse and rhythm that spells impending trouble for the listener, while divulging into and open-air mid-section that picks back up into a flaming crescendo.
You can pre-order the full soundtrack to Firestarter here. In addition to digital and traditional disc versions of the album, you can also purchase an exclusive Black Smoke and Orange splatter vinyl edition, which is sure to become a coveted collectable for horror fans and film score buffs alike.
