Marilyn Manson called up his good friend Johnny Depp and was like "hey, wanna come over, put on some make up and hang out with models who are feigning masturbation?" "I'm there" Depp replies. At least that's how I assume the conversation went before Manson shot his NSFW music video for "SAY10," one of the standout tracks on his surprisingly excellent new album Heaven Upside Down (read our track by track review).
The music video takes inspiration from horror flicks like The Exorcist, Evil Dead, and, the original A Nightmare on Elm Street, which is notable because Depp appeared in that horror classic. I dig the video a lot, Manson and Depp have excellent chemistry. Perhaps the best part of the video is the statement Manson released along with it:
“After the the balloons have all shriveled up and are swallowed in the puddles of puke and idealism, don’t look to Me for sympathy. I am here to be all that I am accused of not being. And to be blamed for what you made Me.
“The shots you will hear are from a mouth disguised as a gun. Don’t call this art. This is a hard cock in a room full of vampires and the music, man. The music is My foul blood on your faces.”
