Twenty years from now, rock and roll historians will hopefully look back on April 27, 2022 as a seismic event where Metallica offered the beautiful people of Santiago, Chile a taste of that ol' Metallica magic, whether the good people wanted one or not.
All kidding aside, the videos that have been culled from this show and mastered for release via YouTube have been nothing short of stellar. As previously reported, videos for "Through the Never" and "Spit Out the Bone" are already available. Today, one of the big guns drops.

As has been reported here, there’s a lot of activity in the Metallica camp, albeit nothing of note regarding a follow up to 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. But, while we wait, there's always the nearly 1,000 live audio and video of Metallica shows past and present available on Nugs, a subscription DSP that focuses on live music that also features live shows from Machine Head. It's not new music, but it is a substantial archive with some deep selections that are most tasty, especially entries from Metallica's 1994 summer shed tour that included Suicidal Tendencies and Danzig in support. You can also listen to the complete mastered audio of the Santiago show here.
Metallica actually made audience recordings part of their band policy in 1991, giving their blessing to any fan wishing to record, or video with permission, the band’s live shows. In reflection, what started out as a small thing—fans making bootleg tapes—was one cornerstone in what became a bigger, more accessible Metallica live experience. Fans can now regularly see new Metallica content on their YouTube page, and often, commercially marketed video—like Some Kind of Monster, for example—winds up there or in other VOD apps often, many times for free, or a discounted rate.
