Former Dark Funeral bassist, Zorn, has begun a new symphonic metal project that explores a more dramatic flair for metal music. The project, entitled Zornheym, is releasing a new EP, The Opposed. To continue building the anticipation for its release, the band has created a unique music video for the title track of the album. The video takes place in a mental institution and follows prisoner ZH000A27 (played by vocalist, Bendler) being possessed by demon residing on his occiput. Multiple shots show the prisoner both falling victim to and attempting to conquer the demon.
Zorn commented on the video, saying:
“Working with Martin has been an absolute honor. He is a perfectionist and really has the eye for telling a story. I think he has captured the essence of prisoner ZH000A27’s agony. Also Bendler has pulled off a hell of performance starring as the main character and Ingela Larsson’s make up is just mind blowing!”
In addition to Zorn's comments, the director of the video, Martin Strandberg had this to say about his work:
“I believe that there are few things more satisfying than involving yourself in an ambitious project along with talented, hard-working people – and this video has been no exception! It has been an extensive undertaking on many levels, and despite limited time and resources we've pulled through with blood, sweat and tears to realize our vision! I'm never really satisfied with any production, always poking for faults and weak spots to learn from – but I'm very proud to say that fulfillment has never felt closer than this time around! It's really exciting that the time to share this monstrosity with you all is drawing near, and I can only hope that you will enjoy the result half as much as I have making it come true!”
In a strong artistic gesture, the videos and music of Zornheym's The Opposed are also accompanied by comic strips for each song. They were created by Anu Bring. Check out the video below and if it piques your interest, you can find another song from Zornheym on Non-Serviam Records' Bandcamp. Zornheym is on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well!
