The experimental black metal band Imperial Triumphant have staged a scene that is one-part historical monolith, one-part French new wave, and one-part Faces of Death, in their new video for the single "Tower of Glory, City of Shame"—yet another killer cut off their forthcoming fifth album, Spirit of Ecstasy, due out July 22 via Century Media.
The masked New York City trio—guitarist/vocalist Zachary Ilya Ezrin, drummer Kenny Grohowski, and bassist Steve Blanco—previously released the gnarly track "Maximalist Scream", featuring Voivod vocalist Denis "Snake" Bélanger. You can check out "Tower of Glory, City of Shame" above. About the track, the Ring Wraith dead ringers had this to say:
“Monolithic events engineered throughout the ages compel great shifts in consciousness. Seemingly coincidental and synchronous points forever alter the landscape. Pigeons gather one by one. Civilization moves through the gateways and in hindsight the obscured vision becomes clearer. Still unknown, however is the truth as all is an illusion with much loss of life and zero accountability. At a certain point there are too many pigeons for the control’s infantile stories to be what they claim.”
Um…. Fuckin' A, man! Sure! Sign me up for the pigeon party, dude! Why not?
All kidding aside, Imperial Triumphant do have some dates lined up post-release, including a stretch of dates supporting Zeal & Ardor that kicks off in September with Sylvaine also in tow. You can catch all those dates below.
