You know how much we love 8-bit metal covers here at Metal Injection. Now imagine an artist that writes, performs, and records original metal masterpieces, all through his Gameboy! His name is Danimal Cannon, and we’re beyond stoked to premiere his brand new track “Behemoth” off his upcoming album Lunaria.
Danimal comments on the track:
"Behemoth" was originally composed on my Nintendo Gameboy as boss music for the game "Jump Jet Rex" which is currently available on Steam and coming soon to major consoles. I decided to expand a bit on the original game track and added guitars. This song is my attempt to channel Gustav Holst's "Mars, The Bringer of War" through a Gameboy."
In a 2012 interview, Danimal explained his process:
It’s just a Game Boy running LSDJ and a guitar in my hand. I’ll work out rhythms and chord progressions on my guitar and then translate them to an appropriate form on the Game Boy. Sometimes I’ll write without the guitar because it causes me to make different musical choices.
