A Perfect Circle have cause for celebration. Their highly anticipated new album, Eat The Elephant, has debuted in the top 5 of Billboard.
Eat the Elephant came in at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 63,000 in the United States.
For comparison, their previous release, Emotive came in at #2 on the charts, selling 142,000 copies in its first week all the way back in 2004. Their 2003 release, Thirteenth Step, also debuted in the number 2 position, selling roughly 231,000. With today's lower expectations for record sales, that's got to be considered a big win for the band.
In related news, Keenan posted on Twitter that got a kick out of one fan's rendition of A Perfect Circle's album artwork for Eat The Elephant. The original artwork's character seems fairly serious, but one fan saw the character as something totally different – Uncle Fester of The Addams Family.
Personally, I think I like the Uncle Fester one better. Look how pleased with himself he looks! Also, if anyone can uncover the identity of the fan who did this, we'd love to credit them here. They did a phenomenal job with this.
