Big congratulations are in order for Iron Maiden, as their long-awaited new release, Senjutu, has debuted in the top 3 of the Billboard 200 chart, at #3, marking the highest chart position for the legendary band for all of their 17 studio album releases.
The album sold an equivalent of 64,000 units, with a whopping 61,000 of those being credited to pbysical album sales. That means the album comes in #1 on the Top Album Sales chart. Over 3.5 million streams of the album resulted in an additional 3,000 units added on to the tally for the final score.
As Billboard explains it, each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
The only rock or metal album to push more physical units in its first week in 2021 was the Foo Fighters release, Medicine.
Other fun stats: this is the fourth consecutive time that a Maiden album debuted in the top 10 of Billboard and overall the band's 15th album to chart.
Congrats to Iron Maiden on all the success.
