It should come as no surprise, but when it comes to actually buying and owning music, rock and metal fans are much more inclined to buy the physical product than fans of other genres.
Twitter account Chart Data compiled the best selling artists of the year so far, based purely on sales of physical and digital products (CDs and vinyl) and does not take into account any streaming data.
While the top artist is Korean pop sensation BTS and number two is The Beatles, the rest of the chart is dominated by rock.
Number 3 is in fact heavy metal icons Metallica. Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Led Zeppelin round out the list.
Metallica's Black Album is now over 600 weeks on the Billboard charts.
