Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro has been battling long COVID throughout 2022. Navarro's ailment caused Porno For Pyros to reunite for Welcome To Rockville 2022 in place of Jane's Addiction (and Lollapalooza 2022), and then Navarro had to sit out the band's tour for the same reason. Unfortunately Navarro is still battling long COVID and it could affect who plays on the new Jane's Addiction record.
According to Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell in an interview with Alt Press, touring guitarists Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens Of The Stone Age, etc.), Josh Klinghoffer (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Daniel Ash (Bauhaus) may step in to assist.
"I don't know who will end up recording the guitar tracks, but I'd love to see Dave, Troy, Josh and Daniel contribute — all the guys on the tour that really stuck it out," he said. "There's a connection there, and it's a no-brainer," added Van Leeuwen. "I'd like to see what they do with Dave, but if they have a plan, I'm going to show up when I can to be a part of it."
The new Jane's Addiction record will be the band's first since The Great Escape Artist in 2011, and their first with original bassist Eric Avery since 1990's Ritual de lo Habitual.
