A fourth installment of the Bill & Ted series is slowly but surely happening. According to Bill & Ted co-star Alex Winter in an interview with The Sarah O'Connell Show, original screenwriters Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have a concept for what we'll refer to as Bill & Ted 4 right now.
"We love [the Bill & Ted movies] because they're oddball, and they're not typical mainstream films," said Winter. "They've never been cash-grab movies; nobody has gotten rich off the Bill and Ted series. We really do make them sincerely from a place of love and interest. There's a really good idea that the writers came up with for a fourth that's kind of obvious. I don't want to give it away – I can't give it away because I would be drawn and quartered – but it is a really good idea, an obvious idea. It will get written, and we'll see if we can actually get it made."
The Bill & Ted series so far has been Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure in 1989, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey in 1991, and then the comeback movie Bill & Ted Face The Music in 2010.
It's also worth noting that the Bill & Ted Face The Music movie had some fantastic metal moments featuring Mastodon contributing an original track called "Rufus Lives", as well as Lamb Of God contributing their song "The Death Of Us". Even better, Animals As Leaders guitarist Tosin Abasi was featured as the movie's "air shredder," and the band even played the world-saving theme song. So yeah, Bill & Ted Face The Music was metal and we're definitely looking forward to Bill & Ted 4 (if it happens).
