To continueĀ and combine the trend of wrestling studios and metal musicians working on horror films, Gene Simmons ofĀ KISSĀ has teamed up with WWE Studios to create Erebus Pictures, which will create "elevated horror movies," according to an article for Rolling Stone. The production company is named for the Greek god of darkness, which is pretty brutal.
So far they are planning to make three films, the first of which is a movie called Temple that WWE Studios had already acquired. The movie will be about a group of military operatives who have to deal with "strange and horrific phenomena" while investigating why another group of operatives was killed.
"The horror genre continues to fascinate me as it proves to be endlessly thrilling and engaging for audiences," Simmons told Rolling Stone. This also won't be the first time he has crossed paths with the world of horror, since he had a cameo appearance in Trick or Treat in the 80s.
Will these films be any good? There is no guarantee, and so far the WWE Studios film franchise has proved to be a little formulaic. Based on the plot of the first film they have in the works, they are sticking to the same themes. But who knows, maybe we will get some sweet KISSĀ cameos to make up for it.
