For some reason, a certain section of Metal Injection readers are deeply offended about Miley Cyrus' pivot to rock and our coverage of it, but we can't look away and ultimately think any new fans Miley brings to rock, and the portion of them that check out metal bands is very important for the future of our genre. And, Miley certainly paid tribute to her favorite rock Gods during her pre-Super Bowl performance yesterday.
Cyrus brought out Joan Jett for three songs, including Jett's classic, "Bad Reputation." Cyrus also invited Billy Idol on stage to perform their duet "Night Crawling," as well as Idol's classic "White Wedding." Idol guitarist Steve Stevens was also out there and easily won outfit of the night.
Cyrus also whipped out some covers of Nine Inch Nails’ “Head Like a Hole”, Blondie’s “Heart of Glass”, Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”, and Bikini Kill’s “Rebel Girl” – which are all excellent choices.
But seriously, look at Steve Stevens' outfit. Legendary…
