In the last week, a lot of musicians have been making their feelings known about the current political climate around the Black Lives Matter movement. One person who does not shy away from such political discussions is Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. Apparently, Morello, who is half black, speaking out on these issues was a bit too much politics for one fan, who let Morello know, and Morello let him have it.
In a now deleted tweet, Scott Castaneda writes "@tmorello I use to be a fan until your political opinions come out. Music is my sanctuary and the last thing I want to hear is political bs when i’m listening to music. As far as i’m concerned you and Pink are completely done. Keep running your mouth and ruining your fan base.?"
What's wild to me is this is not the first time something like this has happened. I've seen a similar comment on Metal Injection RATM stories in the past. Do these people not actually grasp the lyrics? Do they not pay attention? I can't figure it out.
Morello responded shortly after asking a simple question. "Scott!! What music of mine were you a fan of that DIDN’T contain “political BS”? I need to know so I can delete it from the catalog."

With nearly 16,000 retweets and over 100k likes, the internet clearly saw this and had a little fun at Scott's expense.

To dude who used to be a fan of Rage Against the Machine until Tom Morello allowed his political opinions to come out, I feel you. I was gutted when I saw a tweet from Cookie Monster saying he liked cookies. I'm all "Keep it to yourself, my furry friend. I thought I knew you." pic.twitter.com/KFdFiedZDA

I wish Rage Against The Machine would stop being political and go back to writing songs about bulls at a parade

The people angrily denouncing Rage Against the Machine for Tom Morello's leftist politics is one of the more hilarious things I have ever seen on the internet. WHAT MACHINE DID YOU THINK THEY HAVE BEEN RAGING AGAINST FOR DECADES? THE ICE CREAM MACHINE? THE ATM? LAWNMOWERS?

if Rage Against The Machine gets cancelled for being political does that mean we've finally made it to the end of the internet?
