Blackened Death Metal bands, Auroch and Mitochondrion, have a lot in common. They hail from the same city (Vancouver), they share a couple of members, and they both make absolutely blistering Blackened Death Metal. The pairing of these two on a split release seemed like it should have happened a long time ago, and it actually was supposed to happen a few years ago as reported by No Clean Singing (who premiered the split late last week.) Thankfully the wait is over for those anxious to hear this effort.
The split 7", entitled In Cronian Hour, contains one track from each band. What is most interesting about this release is how much of a collaborative effort this actually is. The bands shared a lyrics sheet and gave their own interpretations of the words on the page for their respective songs. Auroch's "Leaden Words Sown" and Mitochondrion's "Gilded Words Reaped" rip the listener to shreds. They're fantastic tracks.
Physical and digital copies of the release can be purchased through Bandcamp, which links you to Dark Descent Records' page to buy the physical copy if you're in North America. Hellthrasher Productions is handling the European release. Check out the tracks below!
