Hey there tech-fiends, I hope at least some of you all enjoyed last week's Formless stream. There's definitely more where that came from! I have an early stream of a full-length or EP set up for each remaining Tech-Death Tuesday in May. But before we get into discussing today's music, there's a sick new band called Caecus I'd like to make you aware of. I helped them premiere a single last week at NCS that you can find here. Today's early stream is for South Carolina symphonic infused tech-death alchemist Enthean, whose forthcoming debut, Priests of Annihilation, officially drops next Friday, May 20th. But, we've got the full thing early for you to delve into below! For me personally, it's felt like a long wait for this record to drop since I've been awaiting more from then ever since their initial three song demo, Tones Of Desecration, dropped in 2013. Considering how good those three songs were, I'm glad all of them still appear here on the full album.
Priests of Annihilation is an interesting record to take in, it's constantly morphing in and out of black metal,symphonic elements, and tech-death territory on a dime. With the precise mixture of each part of their sound shifting per song, meaning some feel more solidly symphonic black metal oriented, and others are more shred heavy technical affairs. This is yet another 2016 technical death metal record by a group new to most people that I think will really impress fans of the genre. While other bands have toyed with infusing their tech-death sound with black metal passages or influences, the way Enthean do so on Priests Of Annihilation is very unique and fresh sounding.
