From the modest, but historical, deciduous forest and Appalachia of Tennessee, to the sweet odors of the Lodgepole Pine lining the jagged Rockies of Colorado, comes a combined split from Twilight Fauna, and Evergreen Refuge. The Procession of the Equinox contains three tracks by Twilight Fauna and one track by Evergreen Refuge. Each characterizing their sound and mood to fit the demographic of their natural surroundings and habitats. These two bands, who have more than 20 releases between them containing full lengths, EP, and Splits, have finally come together to produce another soul enchanting experience.
Twilight Fauna, who hail from Tennessee, and whose newest addition includes a drummer to this formerly one-man band, often characterizes their music with strong folk, dark, and atmospheric black metal elements. With this new release they are able to bring a new flavor of chaos, speed, and fortitude to their first two tracks, while their third "Home in Tennessee" stays more true to their strong, dark folk roots. This overall new direction is able to embrace the agony and hopelessness of the black metal character, while still placing their unique stamp of nature's engulfing and ever present meandering spirit.
Evergreen Refuge has been putting out new music on a regular basis. This non-vocal approach to atmospheric post rock with hints of black metal has characterized his music. It's not only clean cut in design, but also contains a wellness of precision that only the clarity of the high altitude experience can bring. "Light Seeker, Dawn Bringer" is a 20 minute journey for those with an aptitude in searching for the beauty in every aspect of life.
I hope you enjoy this exclusive stream as much as I do. Even though it's not your traditional approach or design, there is a place for this music in everyone's life. Look for the split to be available for purchase on July 14th, 2017.
