It’s Monday and Mondays suck, so let’s grind it out with Beasters Alienated By Solidarity.
Another release that hit us in late 2019 that I’m finally getting around to writing about. Released by the mighty Nerve Altar (whose quality output is outstanding), the five-piece Philly, PA techgrind unit Beasters is cranking out some of the best newer grind in the genre.
Alienated By Solidarity is the third release by Beasters. Having expanded their roster for this one, the band has started to really come into themselves. Over eleven tracks the band grind down the senses and leave us wanting more.
“Humiliation Fetish” starts the gears grinding with something kinda ambient and electronic sounding. Then the track kicks in like a brick to the teeth. Disjointed, gnarly and ugly sounding, the track plummets forth until it breaks down only to end on a quick blast.
“Factory Model” follows suit keeping riffs nice and tech. The track twists and bends for less than a minute before “Sadistic Indignation” keeps the flow going. And the punishment continues.
Tracks are short but flow seamlessly. One might not even realize that Beasters just blew through four tracks unless there’s a clip transition. Different story after one has listened to it about 40 times (points to self).
Alienated By Solidarity is a techgrinding trip of controlled chaos. People who like Gridlink, Cephalic Carnage, or Fawn Limbs will find this grinds their gears real good. Beasters have a lot of promise and should be in a lot more crosshairs. They’re only going to get better. Get grinding on this!
