Last year, Ghost released an excellent new album, Meloria – but it looks like they weren't done releasing new music just yet.
Today, in promotion for their upcoming North American tour, which is their largest yet, the group unveiled a brand new single, not yet released, called "Square Hammer" on SiriusXM Octane. The song is a bit on the mellower side, not as dark as some of the material on Meloria, but it's damn catchy.
During a short interview with Grant Random on SiriusXM Octane, A Nameless Ghoul said of the song “We’re very proud of it. We’re obviously thrilled to be able to play something new. This is a short, to-the-point little gem right at the jugular.” Listen to a hi-res stream of the track at SiriusXM's site.
See all of Ghost's upcoming tour dates right here. Earlier this year, Ghost promised a new EP, mostly featuring covers, would be released in the fall. So, we should probably expect this track will be on it.
Update: Shortly after we went live with this post, Ghost confirmed they will be releasing a new EP called Popestar this Friday, Sept 16th. Here's the tracklisting:
1. Square Hammer
2. Nocturnal Me
3. I Believe
4. Missionary Man
5. Bible
