Rebecca Black Releases Terrible Single, People Everywhere Create Death Metal Parodies.

While I was in Austin for SXSW (plenty of updates from there still to come), my Twitter and Facebook feeds were blowing up with people shitting all over some new track by Rebecca Black, a girl I've never heard of before all my friends started talking about what a terrible song she wrong about Friday. I had my ideas about what the song sounded like and when I finally heard it, it was WAY WORSE than I could imagine.

So here is the original version for context:

It was so painful, but I told myself I'd at least make it to the chorus, and wow. I think my IQ just went down a few points. This may be the first time that an artist is getting all this attention for being terrible. The official video for the track currently has a 9:1 ratio of dislikes to likes…ON THE OFFICIAL VIDEO. It also has 29 million views, so I guess there really is no such thing as bad publicity.

But another interesting thing happened – there are a million death metal parodies of this atrocity. I have compiled a few of the more listenable ones, in the sense that at least it's not listening to the original, but still…these lyrics [facepalm]
