The Star Wars-inspired metal act Galactic Empire have dropped a metal cover of "The Imperial Suite" by composer Michael Giacchino that was prevelent throughout Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The quirky quintet have also released a video for the track, which you can check out just below.
From the opening notes, you can tell the staccato march that introduces Giacchino's piece (which is also below, if you're interested) lends well to a heavy metal riff. Galactic Empire follows a similar pattern through each of the compositions movements before ending on a pause of silence that's deep and dark as space itself.
Galactic Empire's Lord Sikh said in a statement, “Greetings, Citizens of Earth. We are the mighty Galactic Empire and we have returned to lay waste to your pathetic human brains with more sonic destruction. Behold, our heavy metal version of 'The Imperial Suite' from Rogue One. There will be no one to stop us this time!”
Galactic Empire will unleash their wrath this spring in the form of a new album entitled Special Edition, which will reach our galaxy on May 5 from Pure Noise Records. The band is throwing a "Revenge Of the Fifth" release show at Mickey’s Black Box in Lilitz, PA that night, also.
But the party doesn't stop there, as a ‘Revenge Of The Sixth’ event will be held a day later, this time at Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company in Croydon, PA. These crazy throwdowns are naturally riffing on May 4th, the recognized date for International Star Wars Day.
Earlier this year, Galactic Empire released a cover of the theme from the animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch which debuted on Disney+ in 2021. The series is a spin-off and sequel to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and was created by Star Wars writer Dave Filoni. You can check the video out here. May the force be with you, folks!
