This isn't the first time we've featured an APF Records band, so I'll spare you the finer the details about why APF Records and their insane lineup of some of the best the UK underground has to offer totally rules. Instead, I'll let Barbarian Hermit do all the explaining. One of the UK's rising forces in underground doom metal, Barbarian Hermit is poised to reissue their debut album, One, on Jan. 29 through APF, with a superb remastering job by the one and only Chris Fielding (Conan). Today, the band dropped a previously unreleased track from the One sessions in the form of "Through the Periscope of the Deadly Sub," and it's likely all the convincing you'll need to understand just how awesome Barbarian Hermit is.
Riffs, riffs and more riffs is the best way to describe the track. It's like being crushed by the weight of a nuclear sub. Guitarist Adam Robertshaw says of the track:
"'Through the Periscope of the Deadly Sub' is one of the first songs we wrote and also one of the heaviest so it's great that it's finally getting the release it deserves. The song was inspired by a nuclear submarine and Chris Fielding has really captured that same devastating power and sense of claustrophobic dread on his remaster.”
