Portland Oregon's Diabolic Oath primes their full-length debut later this month. Their Profane Death Exodus follows a pair of promising demos in the last two years. The trio, who operate with marked anonymity, craft a menagerie of death, black, and war metal. It's swathed with measured moments of doom metal. In addition to this sinister blend, Diabolic Oath puts an interesting twist on their music. The band uses fretless guitars and bass as well as a vocals arrangement that includes all three members. On a track like "Opening the Gate to Blasphemic Domination," these ideas are powerful. The five-minute offering is the first taste of the band's full-length record and a remarkable barometer for the evil the band constructs throughout the record.
In a statement to Metal Injection, Diabolic Oath says, "Profane Death Exodus has been in production for the last three years with the intention of creating music that's dark, heavy, and unique. We've broken the writing process down to focus on what's most important to us and shaped our sound to amplify these elements. While each song serves a purpose on the album, with thematic nuances in composition and atmosphere, each has also been crafted to stand alone and crush the listener into oblivion. There is a ritualistic occult aesthetic throughout the entire album and lyrics. It's a culmination of everything we like in music distilled and rolled into one package."
