It's interesting how the metal community has evolved from being a very genre to region-oriented system to completely breaking down such boundaries. I certainly don't associate black metal with Australia, but in the age of the internet and globalization of every metallic subgenre, anything should be expected. Vocalist N. Magur, guitarist J. Angus, and bassist D. Coffey make up the atmospheric black metal group Greytomb. It's difficult to exactly classify the band's style as it ranges from the dynamic post-metal tendencies of acts like Alcest or Wolves in the Throne Room while also maintaining a powerful grip on the roots of black metal almost alike Deathspell Omega.
The Melbourne-based group will be releasing Monumental Microcosm on December 19th via Transcending Obscurity. We're excited to premiere the second track of the release, "Antimeta," which travels the spectrum of intensity and beauty with finesse. You can listen below, preorder by clicking here, and check out more bands on the label's roster here. Also, if you're in the continent be sure to catch Greytomb's set at Brimstone Festival on December 16th with additional live members guitarist Brendan Sloan and drummer Robin Stone as well as a variety of other bands including Hybrid Nightmares, Naberus, Atra Vetosus, Deadspace, and more.
