Hey there tech-fiends it's that time of the week again. After focusing on high-quality Canadian tech-death for the last two weeks, it's time to shine a spotlight back on what the United States scene has to offer. With that in mind, I've got an exclusive song premiere from the almighty Pyrrhon for your ears this week. But before we dive into that, here's the usual reminder that if you're looking for more new bands, all prior editions of this series can be perused here.
By now, New York-based experimenters Pyrrhon are a name most death metal fans know, though, like any notable band striving to break new ground, they're not everyone's cup of tea. But for those of us who appreciate the band's willingness to create outside of the normal death metal mold and template, they're easily one of the best groups around. Over the years Pyrrhon has built up an incredible body of work, which will soon be supplemented by their forthcoming 3rd full-length, What Passes For Survival, that's set to drop on August 11th through Willowtip Records.
The song is centered around a slow and torturous skronky build, noisy and fucked up sounding for the first few minutes until all hell breaks loose and the band kick into high gear dishing out a frenzied assault on the senses. Disorienting is a good way to describe the group's music, and in particular, the structure and sound of the song we're premiering today.
