While Whitechapel finish up their record to be out at some point this year, the band are looking toward 2015 to put out a DVD that showcases their career as a band, life on the road and live show. Usually I couldn't care less about these crowdfunding things but I love the way Whitechapel went about it. In the video below that's posted on their IndieGoGo page you should go check out right now, they explain why it's easier and more financially feasible for them to do this through a fan-funded medium and not through their label. I feel like this information has largely been left out of other campaigns, so good on them.
The band just put the campaign up today (Tuesday, Jan. 14) and already have $8,300 (as of 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15) of their $35,000 goal. I'll be shocked if they don't hit their goal in 10 tops. So where's that money going? Well according to their campaign:
- Filming/Editing – $20k
- DVD printing – $6k
- Venue rental – $3k
- Production – $3k
- Merch items (Tshirts, Hoodies, Posters etc.) $3k+
Sweet deal. I guess the "venue rental" part is for special concerts to be filmed for the DVD? The rest is pretty clear. Check out the trailer below and donate!
