I have this game I play with myself (not that one you pervert) where I'll take a band like Faith No More, and wonder what they'd sound like if they ever decided to go Djent. Well it's not often I get sent a press release of a new band that strangely describes how I'd imagine this new band to sound like, but I think it just happened. Meet Circles, the 5 piece progressive metal act hailing from Australia.
A new signee to Basick Records, Circles' debut EP The Compass will be released on May 16th for world consumption. Honestly knowing very little of the band prior to listening to the release, other than the buzz they have going around the interwebs, I was immediately intrigued by their use of electronic effects, erratic song structures, grooves mixed with compelling vocal melody and sharp song writing. This might actually be a contender for the Metal Injection year end list, but I guess only time will tell. You can check out more info and pre-order packages at the Basick Records website.
