A Second METALLICA Song Has Hit One Billion Plays On Spotify

Another Black Album track, of course.

BLACK-ALBUM-MOBILE-HERO

Metallica's Black Album (or self-titled for all you sticklers out there) continues to be the single most popular metal album of all time, as it's generated the band's second song to hit 1 billion plays on Spotify.

Metallica's 1991 track "Nothing Else Matters" just inched its way over the 1 billion mark, joining "Enter Sandman" who's currently creeping up on 1.2 billion plays. For reference, "Master Of Puppets" is next at 722 million, followed by "One" at 488 million and "The Unforgiven" at 460 million.

Frankly, this shouldn't be surprising to anyone. The Black Album has sold somewhere in the realm of 30 million copies worldwide since its release on August 12, 1991. Four of Metallica's top 10 songs on Spotify are from the album, it's their most-played album live, and there's not a single person on this Earth (slight hyperbole) that doesn't know "Enter Sandman" at this point.

According to Spotify, there are less than 500 songs on the platform that have achieved 1 billion plays. Other notable rock and metal songs in that club are "Chop Suey!" by System Of A Down, "In The End" and "Numb" by Linkin Park, "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns N' Roses, and both "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come As You Are" by Nirvana.
