No seriously, Sleep Token is insanely popular.
Earlier this month we posted about Sleep Token's single "The Summoning" staying within the Top 10 of Spotify's Viral 50 – Global playlist. Now a few weeks later and "The Summoning" is still at No. 14 across the world (and across every genre), but is absolutely killing it in the United States.
As of today, Sleep Token's "The Summoning" is at No. 5, "Granite" is at No. 15, "Aqua Regia" at No. 25, and "Chokehold" at No. 48 on the Spotify's Viral 50 – USA playlist. The UK looks pretty similar as well – "The Summoning" is at No. 6, "Aqua Regia" at No. 31, and "Granite" at No. 34. Ireland Norway also has "The Summoning" at No. 2, Ireland at No. 5, Finland at No. 10, Sweden at No. 11, and Germany has it at No. 34.
So what does this all mean? Probably that Sleep Token is currently poised to be one of the biggest heavy bands in the world. Or at the very least "The Summoning" is the song that might be the one to do it for them. I mean really, even going back to the previous article, we mentioned that "The Summoning" had racked up 1.7 million streams on YouTube. It's now closing in on 3 million. Same thing with Spotify – it had 7.8 million streams, now it's getting closer to 15 million.
So whatever Sleep Token has going on, at least with "The Summoning," is working. The song's massive popularity is also surprising given that it's not exactly a pop tune – there are plenty of chunky riffs and screaming-heavy breakdowns.
Sleep Token recently announced their highly-anticipated new album Take Me Back To Eden for May 19. The new album is the final in a trilogy started by Sundowning in 2019, and pre-orders are available here. You can catch Sleep Token at one of the below festivals.
