Halloween's coming, and you know what that means- it's time to listen to that timeless punk-rock institution, The Misfits!
Now I know what some readers are thinking, "WTF, this is Metal Injection! Not Punk Injection!" But leaving the importance and greatness of Punk as a genre aside, it's worth spending some time on The Misfits because of how HUGELY influential they have been on so many bands across so many styles of Metal. That and the music simply speaks for itself, from the almost rockabilly-esque cool of their early work, to the pure horror-punk of Walk Among Us, all the way to the thrashing hardcore of Earth A.D– the Misfits are an indispensable part of any metal-head's collection.
And as it is Halloween, what better soundtrack then The Misfits? With so many songs about zombies, vampires, and martians- you'd think Hollywood would owe Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only a serious set of royalty checks by now. The songs are loud, fast, catchy and above all- fun! What else could you want for a night of horror movies, costumes, and candy…or booze…or both.
Those of you who read our 12 Great Songs for Fall entry know that I'm already a huge fan of "Astro Zombies", but let's take a look at 10 other Misfits classics to suit your ghouls night out. (Hah! See what I did there?) One thing to keep in mind, since I limited myself to 10 tracks here, take this list as a starting point.
