You never know what can catch the ire of internet commenters nowadays. Today, it's the announcement of Trivium frontman Matt Heafy's new line of signature double guitar straps.
Heafy made the announcement on his Instagram page saying:
Guitar straps are not ergonomic. The concept of a weight on one side of a trapezius/ shoulder joint for an entire musical-lifetime is detrimental to the balance of your body. With my signature dual strap, the weight is balanced on the other shoulder – offering a 60/40 weight distribution and is a lifesaver no matter your musical level. Get your Matt Heafy @richterstraps dual strap now and save your body. (You can always use this as a dual or single strap with a simply click on/off feature).
For some reason this was a very controversial product to make. I guess because it doesn't "look cool?" Either way, some commenters voiced their displeasure and they are wont to do.
Heafy took the comments in stride, responding:
I’ve never seen so many salty comments about a strap that helps your shoulder. Hahah. People must hate their left shoulder. What did your shoulder ever do to you?
I guess any publicity is good publicity.
Pick up the guitar straps here.
