Check Out DOPE's Very Industrious Cover Of THE CURE'S "Lovesong"

Industrious, industrial. Tomayto, tomahto.

Edsel Dope

Nü-metal-slash-industrial outfit Dope have just released a cover of The Cure's classic track "Lovesong," originally featured on The Cure's 1989 masterpiece LP Disintegration (Which, by the way, is essential listening for a dark and drab lifestyle_

At first, Dope's cover starts out like 12" club remix of the track, before very styled and polished guitars come in to drive that unforgettable melody. During the verses, Dope singer Edsel Dope's vocals bounce over futuristic house beats, then shift into a croon over the chorus that's underneath a wash of riffs saturated with effects.

Bottom line, it's got a soft early-Wax Trax influence housed into some fairly nu-metal commonplaces. You can check it out for yourself in the visualizer video just below.

Dope will release their new LP, Blood Money Part Zero on February 24, and a pre-sale of the album is available here. You can also catch the band on tour this spring with Static-X and Fear Factory, which was originally scheduled for 2022, but postponed until this spring. Those dates are below.
