CLOUDKICKER Streams Stripped Down Mix Of "What They Do Is Not Art"

The original was a little overmixed.

Cloudkicker is now streaming the 2022 mix of "What They Do Is Not Art" from the 2020 record Solitude. Cloudkicker mastermind Ben Sharp points out that the remix is essentially a stripped down version of the song, as he feels the 2020 version might've been a little overmixed.

"This is a complete teardown and remix of the 2nd track off of Solitude," said Sharp. "I removed half the guitars and left just the Dual Rectifier tracks, took off a ton of plugins from the mix, deleted most of the small EQ tweaks I had made, and only really added back what I thought the track needed. I'm not sure I have the time or inclination to do the whole album again like this but at the very least it's an exercise for me in not going crazy with extra crap in the mixing process and letting the performances stand on their own.

"Although, it's kind of understandable why I would have gone into the weeds originally. I was sitting around in the heat of the pandemic not knowing what my life would look like in weeks, months, a year, etc. So I guess I just mixed the hell out of this album as an outlet."
