Idle Hands made quite an impact with their EP Don't Waste Your Time and now they're back in an even bigger way. Idle Hands will release Mana on May 10 and I'm excited to premiere their brand new song "A Single Solemn Rose" today. The song showcases the band's more goth-laden side than their usual straightforward heavy metal, or as guitarist and vocalist Gabriel Franco puts it, he was just trying to write a Journey song in 2019.
"Arguably the least metal track on the album, the song actually turned out to be my favorite. Since the first single was straight-forward heavy metal, we decided to show the other side of the Idle Hands musical spectrum on 'A Single Solemn Rose.'
"I think I was just trying as hard as I could to write a Journey song."
Mana was tracked by Gabe Johnston and Zack Ohren (Machine Head), mixed by Johnston and Gabriel Franco, and was mastered by Brad Boatright (Yob, Corrosion of Conformity). Pre-order the record in Europe here and in the United States here.
